About High Desert Hounds
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide emergency shelter and support to homeless dogs in our community. We believe that all of the vulnerable and displaced animals in Taos County deserve a safe and comfortable place to sleep, be fed and have medical care and we work tirelessly to make that a reality.
Our Programs
We work across Taos County to match dogs with foster care, transport to safe shelters, and find homes. Additionally we work to help community members arrange spay and neuter for their animals, and help arrange transportation to a vet for spay and neuter appointments when transport is a barrier.
Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are vital to the success of our mission. We need volunteers to transport and foster dogs, to help in awareness raising campaigns, to write articles for the Taos News and Questa del rio News, hang flyers, gather supplies, provide recovery spaces for dogs post surgery (usually five days) and many more duties. Please get involved and make a difference in the lives of the pups we serve.
